The Mejuruà project
The first project promoted by the IAMazonia Organization is based on sustainable forest management and active support to local communities. It is implemented by the Brazilian company BR ARBO.
The initiative foresees the preservation on permanent basis of a large forest area located in Carauari and, at the same time, is able to generate economic value that can finance initiatives to support local communities. Finally, the possibility of issuing carbon credits will be recognized due to the reduction in CO2 emissions generated by the project.
Where the project takes place
The project represents one of the largest forest conservation initiatives ever undertaken in Amazon region, in terms of the size of the protected area.
Covering over 900,000 hectares of the Carauri forest, it aims to prevent deforestation and promote sustainable forest management practices.
