Future initiatives
Iamazonia has a pipeline of new conservation initiatives in some of the world’s most significant carbon-rich ecosystems. While our flagship project is in Brazil, we are international by design and operate through close partnership with public authorities and local organizations.
Our scoping process
Each project follows a rigorous evaluation process, combining scientific assessment, legal analysis and early dialogue with relevant institutions and communities. The goal is to structure high-quality projects that deliver measurable environmental benefits and real support to the people who live alongside them and can attract capital markets financing.
Potential future Iamazonia projects are at planning stage and remain subject to feasibility studies, government approval and structured community engagement. Owing to their complexity, Iamazonia projects, such as, for example, Mejuruá, take several years to design.
Projects under assessment
In Tanzania, a memorandum of understanding was signed in December 2023 with the Tanzania Forest Service Agency to assess a possible conservation concession over 500,000 hectares. Since July 2024, negotiations have also begun with institutions appointed by the President of the Republic for environment and climate change.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iamazonia is working with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development to assess four concession areas in the Equateur and Mongala provinces. Legal, technical and economic analyses are in progress.
In Venezuela, a memorandum of understanding was signed in July 2024 with the Government of Bolívar State for a potential REDD+ and afforestation project in a vast area of rainforest recently declared a National Reserve.
